windows

I'm just about ready to lose it. How long does it take for a window store to recieve a window they order?? I used this place which was recommended to me for a simple 3'x2' window for my kitchen. I was going to install it myself but i figured for a couple hundred more dollars why not let someone else get dirty for a change. Needless to say I should have just did the HD or Lowes thing and put it in myself. I was told 3 to 4 weeks no problem now it's going on 10 weeks and no window. Every time i call i get this crap about how it's not ready yet and their so busy. They told me sometimes this happens which my reaction was just yelling at the guy. My big mistake was not getting an installation date on the contract before i left a deposit but i never anticipated this type of problem for such a small job. I'm actually thinking about filing a complaint with small claims court to get my deposit back but the no installation date thing might screw me up. I can't believe this. Any suggestions??

Have you requested your deposit back? Tell them they said 3 - 4 weeks (which I think all companies are programmed to spit this out when asked), and 10 weeks is unacceptable. I'm guessing, at this point, the window is not even manufactured yet. Maybe give them an altimatum (sp?) that if the window is not in by (fill in date) you will expect your deposit back, or you will file a complaint with the state attorney general, BBB, or whoever you might go to in your area. Good luck. Unfortunately, many of the people who run these independent business should stick to what they know best, and that's the installation and building of things....not the running of a business.
