Window screen question

Some of the windows on the house I just bought didn't have window screens. They're double hung windows. How would I go about getting replacement screens? Thanks for the help.

From experience: You may have to find a local "Window & Screen" type business to make your screens. If you have to go that route, you may want to consider going to storm windows. These would offer some insulation value and would definitely offer protection from the elements. I have found the pricing between having new screens only made and storm windows made to be little difference. Our local Window & Screen shop offers screen frames in colors to enhance the windows, and they also offer the storm window frames in the same colors. Just a thought, David

Thanks for the suggestion. I only need screens. This is a 3 season porch. I am going to check that option out. I only need 3 screens. Shouldn't be to expensive.

You could also buy screen material & make your own
Myself I'd go the storm window route
Even a 3 season porch with storm windows will stay warmer & keep the house warmer - if you are in a cold climate

If the windows face south the storms will work even better in cold weather

Is there a how to on making screens? What material do you use for the frame?

A simple frame would be out of wood, depending upon size

I was just doing some searching on the web. There are kits you can buy that come with the aluminum channel, plastic corners, the spline.
But I like the wood frame idea. Thanks
