Who's responsible? Part II

johnny558 Newbie   Join Date: May 2006 Posts: 8	Who's responsible? Part II My contractor had to run a 4 inch sewer line from the back of my house,(where the extension is built) through an existing wall which had to be torn down, to make the connection to my main sewer in the basement in the front of my house. Who's responsible for putting my wall back up? The contractor told me that he would be able to connect the sewer to a 3 inch drain pipe that runs through the same wall. The city said he coud'nt do it. Since he made the mistake I think he should put my wall back up.........What do you guys think I should do?

If not in there falls back to you (sorry). Permit should have stated requirements by city. Any change orders signed/presented by/to you?:confused:

jmic 2nd half   Join Date: Dec 2005 Location: ct. Posts: 48	Who's responsible? Part II I don't understand , if I had to run a 3 or 4" line through a wall, weather concrete or whatever I'd put a hole through the wall I needed to get the pipe through. Not take the wall down.

johnny558 Newbie   Join Date: May 2006 Posts: 8	Who's responsible? Part II the pipe runs along the side if my basement wall which is the concrete foundation of my house. The pipe runs about 30 ft from the back of the basement to the front of it where the main sewer line is.

Part II It kind of depends on your contract, but in reality most people would rely on their contractor to keep in line with local codes when they're doing work. If he's violated one and the city told him to stop and figure out another way, then it should be on his dime IMO. No experience in this situation though, sorry.
