Where can I buy a 3" x 1" x 1/4" copper / magnesium block?

I need a rectangular copper / magnesium block 3" x 1" x 1/4".

Anyone know where I could buy this, short of finding a machine shop? If I found 1/4" copper plate, I might be able to make one with a router / angle grinder, but even that seems like it'd be harder than just finding a place to buy one.

Are you looking for copper, or magnesium? Two entirely different materials.

MSCdirect.com carries copper sheet that thick but, the smallest piece is 12"x12" in 101 alloy. They also have 72" x 1" x 1/4" bars in 110 alloy

Copper is soft. You could make what you want in short order with an angle grinder. May I ask what this item is for?

Just a die blank. I'd like to stay away from magnesium, since it's flammable.

I am confused. You do or do not want magnesium. You are looking for an alloy perhaps with percentages like ______fil in blank________? Any purity requirements?

Do you need this machined? You might try a turnkey online machine shop like emachineshop.com, etc. A laser cutting and drilling place should be able to help to depending on what it is for.

I like using local guys but have been known to use these folks. Prices are good. Their software is decent for basics or I use DraftSight, which is free/opensource.

Check out if Metals Supermarket http://www.metalsupermarkets.com/ has a store near you. They will sell you small pieces.
Copper/Magnesium alloy sounds like an odd ball that you are not going to find readily (i.e. cheaply), but perhaps you can use Copper or Bronze (or steel, if its a die).

Magnesium will work if I can find it cut, I don't want to have to take an angle grinder to it.

I found a custom metals site that sells copper ones for like $20, but the shipping is coming up as like $24, so I emailed them to see if they'll ship it for less (I'm not sure you couldn't mail it in an envelope for $1)

I put in a request for quote - would be kind of nice if they had prices listed

Some things you can add to the cart to see the price. I just priced a sheet of stainless steel, and it showed the price in the cart.

Then when I did a sheet of aluminum, it told me price varies by location, asked me to choose a location, and request a quote.

Ended up being like $20 with shipping. Not too bad imo.
