What kind of concrete for fence gate bolt?

I just finished building gates for my privacy fence and I need to lay a small concrete slab so the bolts can go into the ground from the gates to hold the gates in place. I recently had to rebuild my gates because I added new 6x6 posts for them to attach to and my old holes are now misaligned.

The problem is that I previously had metal pipes set in quikrete for the bolts to slide into, but they didn't hold. My plan this time is to dig a square directly under the gate bolts and fill it with concrete all the way to the surface. The surface under the gates is currently my yard. I'm thinking the new concrete should be about 12"x8"x12"D. Can I use regular post-setting quikrete for this or should I use another type of concrete?

Premix mixed quickcrete should be fine. Do not use Mortar mix. Anything that is concrete with stone in it will be fine.
A precast concrete patio block will probably work well also.

I have patio blocks. That's a good idea. Thanks!

i did a fence drive way gates back in 91' and slammed a 4' lenght of black pipe into the grond where the bolt dropped into the pipe in the closed position without concrete...and still doing the job even with the recent nor'easter here.with a clasp up about nose high that will do it...
