What is this 3" inch pvc pipe for?

At the top of the picture, please see the 3" diameter pvc pipe. It seems to run inside the wall behind the toilet up to the ceiling then it makes a 90 degree turn and heads through the ceiling to some unknown destination.

What do you think it's for? Water? Gases?
Thanks

Just look in the attic to see if it does run up through the roof like it should.

+1

That or look on the roof if you can see it from outside.

Probably a main vent stack.

There could also be a hidden toilet in the attic. But odds are it is a vent.
