Weed Eater/Wacker/Trimmer Cord Replacement

I've got a torn pull cord I need to replace on a Poulan Pro 31cc PPB200 gas trimmer. I've been pulling bolts and screws all over the place and the only thing that seems to be stopping me from removing the plastic housing to get to the pulley system where the cord is located, is a silver cylinder rotating cylinder. What next?

You have to buy a new spool of the plastic line. Unplug or turn off the weed eater, and then carefully remove the old spool. Make sure you buy the correct replacement spool.

Weed Eater/Wacker/Trimmer Cord Replacement

If the Poulan is set up like the older Troy Built I have......you're going to need a special socket/key to remove what needs to be removed. When the cord broke on my TB, I did the same as you, pulling everything off. Then with the magic of the intarwebz, I discovered the snag. I saw the tool cost around $80 too......so I begged off.
