Unusual Request

help! I am trying to remember how someone or article showed me to plow a curvature groove into a board. I need to get this "groove" deep enough to hold a 1 1/2 wooden caster on a day bed. goal is to both raise the bed to height of original bed as well as immobilize the portable unit (stop it from rolling away). Any help?
