lol, ironically windows will be the first purchase so ishould see a little more back next year. I have a feeling i'm going to blow through this check way too quickly. Also putting half towards my mortgage principle though.

What windows and how many did you get to have that big of a credit if you don't mind me asking?

Andersen windows - 400 series
The last 3 windows alone were $1200
30% Tax credit as long as they meet energy saving specs
I've replaced every window in the house
I did count them once...my small front porch has 6 windows alone
Main house has around 33 windows I think
Addition has at least 16 windows

Congrats!

We got an 8K tax credit this year also. Just be careful, I had lots of ideas for that money but it ended up in our wedding fund for July hahaha.

... jk. congrats on the wedding. Better the government paying for your wedding than out of pocket!

I assume you had it set up as direct deposit.

For some reason i won't let myself set direct deposit up. Something about ripping off the government for that extra 42 cents makes me smile.

Check with your utility (gas) company as well. Here in Michigan they have offered additional credits for improvements. Attic insulation would grab you another 50 bucks. Each window replaced grabs you another $12.50 (yes, $12.50). You can increase those credits if you pay for a full blown energy audit.
