Trex Deck

We were among the first to install a trex deck (15x40) approx. 8 yrs ago. We noticed from the beginning the discoloration. We gone through a white liquid cleaner Trex recommended bleaching many times and we are back at square one. Same moldy, spotted gray deck. We have mixed feeling about using a stain.

Are there any solutions? I've noted this is a very common problem. Has Trex addressed this issue.

Trex Deck

Most of the people on this board will just say "Should have used real wood to begin with" and other such things. However the composites of today (well, the good quality ones) are MILES better than the early composite products. I Like Fiberon Horizon, and Dura Life decking. Trex also has an improved product called Transcend that is ok but is usually more expensive than the other 2.

Trex Deck

There is only one way to fix the problem with mold or mildew in Trex. Use New Image Coatings Mold Eliminator as directed on the container to clean and even out the color. And then use Seal-Once Multi-Surface Waterproofer as directed with 2 wet on wet coats. The waterproofer will keep the mold and mildew from growing again as it needs moisture to grow.
