Top of the stairs question

I'm planning on ripping up the carpet on our stair case and refinishing the stairs. My question is how should I go about making the top look? The stairs will be hardwood and the upstairs is all carpeted. Can anyone snap a few pics of what they setup looks like in this scenario to give me a few ideas? If so, that would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,
Matt

Generally a piece of the stair tread is ripped down to about 4"-5" and laid as a bull nose /top step for the floor. The back of the bull nose get tackless for the carpet.

so does the tackless actually go on the back of the tread, or on the floor right behind it?

On the sub floor behind it,so the carpet butts against the back of the tread so you can't trip on it.
