Tile over concrete shower floor

Just pulled out shower insert to find big hold around sewer where no concrete was poured. Should I fill in the hole with concrete, or create floor over top ? Thank you so much.

what is it that you are doing after removing this shower base? A new shower? A new floor?

Tile over concrete shower floor

thank you - am going to create a shower pan ( the hard way ) - i have decided to fill the hole in ( 16 inches deep ) - partially with gravel and then finish it off with concrete so it is flush with the existing slab. thanks again.

Remember to make it smooth and level before you put anything ontop. Sounds like a big hole to fill...Good luck buddy.

If you live in a multi family home you need to fire stop the hole properly. Just using concrete is not enough of a step.

City inspectors will need to see this work and ensure it is don correctly.
