take a look at this tiny gap in window installation, how to take care of it ?

Hey everyone..they are installing my IMPACT windows. They put the pressure treated bucking all around the opening and then put the window in place. I noticed this small gap in the upper right hand corner. All they did was caulk the hole. Is this acceptable ? If not, what is the right course of action to take ?

No. Its not acceptable.

That has to be the worst replacement window install I've ever seen. Either they do it right or contact an attorney. They are'nt even close to fitting properly. And how the h*** do you trim the inside so it looks presentable. Pathetic.

I'd get them to come redo it, but worse comes to worse, a foam insulation sandwiched with caulk might work, but it wont exactly, look nice... That's a really nasty heat loss right there. In fact, that whole frame is. Yeah best to get them to redo their job properly.

The only real way I see to fix it is to put in new jambs and case everything. You need to get a trim carpenter in there to give you an estimate. Then deduct that from the final payment.

Before trying that approach, try and get them back out and make it right.
Chances are someone else with more ability will fix it the second time around.
If that fails, then continue to legally persue, and maybe use this approach.

Why did they use pressure treated wood for bucking in the space? Pressure treated may shrink and cause further problems. Is the pressure treated directly visible fromt eh outside or will it be covered with trim, hopefully flashing tape and caulk first. I intsalled all new windows in my house and never had any holes like that.
