Sump Pump
Hello,
I'm having problems with my sump pump. After a few nights of heavy rain, I noticed that I wasn't hearing it kick on at all. Upon inspection, I found that the water level was above the tube where the water discharges into the well. The pump won't turn on by itself, but does even if I just tap the outlet drain. (I'm not at even touching the switch or any other part of the pump when I do this) What's even more strange is that if the water level isn't high enough, this won't work. I can also tap the switch with a PCV tube and it kicks on, but again, the water level has to be at a certain height.
Anyone make any sense of this? I just find it weird that I can tap on the tube that is filling up the well and the pump will start, but it won't start on it's own, no matter what the water level.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
