Stupid Question: How to bevel cut less than 45° on a compound miter??

UPDATE::: Maybe this should be titled, "how to cut angles larger than 45°".

Sorry this is so basic, but for some reason I can't figure it out!!

I'm installing baseboard and I have to cut it flat, because my 10" Makita isn't tall enough to cut through the 5 1/2" base standing up. I'm on my LAST corner and it's causing my a BIG problem. It's an outside corner that measures 84°. I KNOW this is a stupid question, but how to do cut the two 42°'s? My saw bevels left and right up to 45°, but when I adjust my saw I'm cutting 48° NOT 42° (the opposite angle), and if I flip the piece over it's cutting the wrong side (it will be a left inside instead of right, or vs versa). I KNOW this has to be an easy fix, but I can't figure it out. So, do I cut the base on the opposite side or cut it upside down or what???????? What am I missing?????

I just glued three shims together, which gave me a nice solid surface and the 2°'s necessary for the angle I needed.
