Storage room door knob

I am looking for a door knob that is always unlocked on the inside but locks and unlocks on the outside with a key.

When you unlock it with the key and pull the key out it would stay unlocked.
When you lock it with the key and pull the key out it would stay locked.

Guy at door shop said it was a "storage room" door knob I needed, not sure.
Thought these had to have the key in them to stay unlocked, and once you removed the key it would lock again.

This is actually for the back door of a church, panic hardware not required.
Just a regular lock knob now, But kids go through it and leave it un-locked and no-one checks it and door has been left un-locked for an entire week at a time.

I think you're looking for a classroom lock.

"Classroom locks(maintained)are always locked and unlocked from the outside by key. The inside knob or lever is always free for immediate exit.

Storeroom locks (momentary) have a fixed outside knob or lever, and the latch is retracted by the key from the outside. The inside knob or lever is always free for immediate exit."

From this site - http://professional.schlage.com/appl...ons_lockit.asp

I think you are right

You're welcome....just one of the benefits of being a teacher's kid, knowing about classroom locks.
