stinky ties
I used some railroad ties to create a retaining wall for my egress window out of the basement. They worked well amd look good but after I made a cover to keep out the critters and weather the smell of the
creosote is very strong when the window is open. Is there any way to seal the ties or somehow get rid of the smell? |

I dont see any drainage hooked up to the bottom of that well. How do you intend to manage ground water. Also there is no approved ladder. I am sure that well will not pass inspection. Anyways use Bin shellac or oil based kills.

This was a old pic I had when I first started on it, I thought it would be better than no pic at all. It does have drainage now and a cover that covers the entire opening. The pic doesn't show it very well but I staggered the back of it so it acts as a ladder. The opening is already bigger than code by quite a bit but I was in a bit of a crunch for space so I opted to use the built in ladder method.
