stained hardiplank?

So my girlfriend bought stained hardiplank from this couple that had extra after siding their house, we new it was not enough to finish my house and when were ready to buy more, we found out that the company Weiss out of Medford Oregon was out of business. Now I can not find anywhere that does this prestained. I know I could try it myself but have heard bad things, and I know I could paint over it but really want the same stuff. If anyone knows anything that could help to point me in the right direction that would be wonderful.

stained hardiplank?

I've read this post multiple times, as I'm not sure I understand the problem. "So my girlfriend bought stained hardiplank". "HardieBoard" as I know it, is the Brand Name of a horizontal siding made from a cement type material. As we use "Coca-Coal" to describe many different soft drinks, sometimes "HardieBoard, and Hardiplank", used to describe different brands of siding, made of different materials. That said: I, personally, have never seen what I know to be "HardieBoard" brand siding, made from the cement material, in colors other than white and grey. Maybe they are out there, but not here. I'm wondering-how would you stain the cement like material and have it last? A wood product-Yes. Than again, I replace a lot of the older "wood"/compacted sawdust material type siding in this area, as it doesn't like our humidity if not properly coated. "padow", please check and let us know if your material is the cement type material or the wood by-product type material. Good Luck, David

stained hardiplank?

thurman, it is in fact a fiber cement board, hardiplank. And yes they do stain it to make it look like a wood product. I dug a little deeper and found that the rights to Weiss and their technology were bought by a company called woodtone, my problem is solved they are going to take care of me, but thanks for your insight.

stained hardiplank?

padow--As much HardieBoard as I have installed, I'm still no expert and have now learned something new with the pre-stained product. Thanks for your info. I now will look into this pre-stained HardieBoard. It may be a special order, and I just have not seen any here, yet. Thanks, David

stained hardiplank?

Since having stained HardiPlank installed in 2005 we have had a BIG problem!! The stain was factory applied by a Hardi approved factory- Duckback Products- and is peeling off the siding. This started after just 2 years while the stain has a 12 year warranty. We are still in the process of having them honor their warranty.

They no longer offer the stain process and that leads me to believe that they must be aware of problems!!

Does anyone here have or know of others with this problem??

Thanks!!
