Hello. While they were installing the faucet in my kitchen stainless steel sink the part of the sink where you set your dishes to dry came loose from the countertop (formica). What can I do to adhere the this part of the sink back to the countertop (there is about a two inch gap between the sink and counter top now)?
The sink should have clips on the underside of the countertop. If it it popped up that much it seems like perhaps it isn't fitting correctly in the hole. At any rate, to repair it, I'd push the sink back down and have your significant other put a piece of masking tape about 1/16" from the sink edge on the countertop. Lift the sink back up and put a bead of silicone caulk just inside the tape. Push the sink back down and reinstall the clips on the bottom to hold the sink tight to the countertop. You will have some caulk ease out of the seam but if you remove the masking tape, the excess will come off with on the masking tape leaving a clean line around the sink.
