simple question needs answer
Am having my spring replaced on the garage door. It is a single spring. Does anyone know a reasonable price for this? Quotes have ranged from 108- 350.

$108 sounds like a great price.

$ 350 sounds like your helping the guy buy another new truck.

Just be sure they have workers comp insurance.

There is a big range in cycle life of springs. Is it a big heavy door that is used a lot?

Big Bob 09-21-2008 02:47 PM

Very good point above.. APPLES to APPLES are they quoting the same size and quality?

Thank you for replying. The guy whose estimate was 350 wrote he was using a single gold torsion spring. His charge for that was 177.90. Looking at some prices via the computer, that seemed way out of the park. Honestly, I don't know what spring the other company is using. The other company's quoted price was more in line with what I have seen on the internet. Thanks for the advice of checking workman's comp.

There is no such thing as a simple answer. What is the door width, makeup, and usage?

stacy97 09-21-2008 06:02 PM

The door is a single, 2 car garage, aluminum...seemed to be thin until it took 2 people to raise it. :) Usage is opening and closing at least 3-5 times a day. Not a real fancy door.
