Shower temp.

I have a leaky cold water handle in my master bathroom bathtub. When we take showers the temp. changes from warm to extremely hot then back to warm. It used to do it, 2-3 times during a shower session. Now it does it a couple times a minute. Is the cold water leak the reason for the temp. fluctuation or is there a bigger problem? Please Help!!!

In my opinion an external leak would need to vary in intensity to change water temperature at the shower head . What may be happening internally is anyone's guess.

For solutions to these types of problems I've always tried to correct what I know is wrong first and those steps often correct other problems as well. So what I would do is correct the leaky handle problem with new internal parts and then go from there. While down it may be wise to replace parts in both cold and hot.

SeniorSitizen, thanks for the tip. I was thinking the same thing. I'll change the handle inurts and go from there.

Sounds like the mixing valve is going bad. A small leak would not cause this.
