Shower Rod Trouble
Hi. I need to install a new stainless steel shower rod. But My dilemma is that the 6 ft ones are too big and the 5 ft one that I got at HD is too small. I have two 4 inch holes on both sides of the wall where the rod goes in. Now can I fill it in with something so that that 5 ft bar will fit or do I get one custom made. And if filling in the hole is a good idea what would i use? Right now my rod is a bit over 5 ft and is very rusty which is why I need to replace one. Thanks!

That must be some big shower rod that you had before to leave a 4’’ hole. Measure your old shower rod and cut the 6’ one down to match.
here is a video on installation: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=edIZF9ha-_0 |
But what is your opinion about filling in the hole and making it smaller?

How about decorative pieces of wood at each side and make it look intentional? Or maybe a couple of decorative wall tiles.

Is the 4” hole in drywall or a tiled wall? Can you provide pictures?

Most rods are going to be expandable. We just used a curved shower rod, that fit between the walls, and expands to fit. I would suggest the same. Pictures do help though.

Really need to see a picture.
Unusual to have a 4" hole in the wall. |
