sealing garage floor
Can anyone share there experience in sealing or painting a cement garage floor. The floor is 20 years old and has the normal oil stains. There are several coating available but others have told me of problems developing several years later. Any good or bad experiences out there and hints.

I want to do the same thing on my new garage floor and I've been advised to use an epoxy instead of paint. I've been told that the heat from the tires of a recently driven car will pull up the paint. They make a special garage floor epoxy that's supposed to do the trick but I'm not sure of the prep involved on an older floor. Check one of the big box stores, that's where I got my info.

Older floors need to be cleaned with engine degreaser and Tsp and rinced very well.. Any time you paint a cement floor with hot tires coming in you should get some runners and place them where your tires will be coming in and stoping.

Thanks, the tire marks were my major concern and the paint coming up from hot tires might be a worse sight than what I have. Thanks for the reply I was just trying to get some feedback on the experiences of others.
