Screw in Track Lighting Bar Popping Out

Hi Everyone,

I installed a track light yesterday in the ceiling and not being really familiar with what I was doing and the instructions not being clear, I didn't notice there were toggle type "mollies" that needed to be used with the screws that attach the track bar to the ceiling. Well, one of the screws popped out and now there is a gap between the bar and the ceiling.

The rest of the fixture is secure and I really don't want to remove the entire thing so that I can put the toggle thing in the ceiling. Is there any way I can make the screw, or another one, grip in the ceiling so it will be flush? the hole is only so big so I think any type of anchor I use will be too small since the screw diameter is about the size of the hole in the track.

Any suggestions? :(

Thanks in advance!
Sue

Is this screwed into drywall, plaster and lath or other material?

Sorry, I should have mentioned that. It is screwed into regular drywall.

Choose one from below.

I think any of those would require a bigger hole in the track bar. Would I have to drill one and is that safe to do? Thanks,

Mots of these are installed before the unit is attached.
I think that you have two screws that hold that fixture.
Loosen the otehr screw slightly and move the fixture away from the screw hole that needs repair. Insert the new anchoring system then move the fixture back to the proper location. Insert screw thru the fixture and into the anchoring system.
