I Cant get any closer to the beach without having gills. I had about 2 foot of water when it came tru, accross the street they had 4 foot +. A little south of me Sandy just took everything, just empty lots now. I was real lucky, I feel so sorry for others around here. They are still living in a limbo world.

I have not seen any buyouts around here. Most are trying to rebuild or fixup repair. The towns along the ocean front are using eminent domain to get the property along the beach for the corps of engineers dune and beach building. Some people would not sign for the easements.
Here where i am we have a very wide and high beach (south of Manasquan inlet for about a mile) so I am pretty safe for now. I have always stayed tru the storms but this is the first one for waves coming down my driveway.

My place is mortage free so I dropped the flood insurance after Sandy. I payed all these years and put in a claim. They beat me up on what i put in for so I said forget insurance. Not worth it for me. I am rearainging my Down stairs for the water the next time if it comes. This old building has been here 80+ years and is still strong. I am 13 foot above sea level and live another 12 foot up on second story. I feel ok with my choice.
People are going to get beat up with these rates they are talking. I am lucky I am free and clear of the insurance crap. I know it can happen again but i will take whatever happens.
