What is next? - Columns with blow out panels or block with a few blow out panels?

to pour a perimeter foundation ONLY,not the floor for the new blocks..haven't seen pilings as of yet cinder block foundations with vent swing doors 2 per side size of a cinder block.they pour a concrete floor and the doors are at that level so to drain the water at low tide http://i275.photobucket.com/albums/j...psf15d3d91.jpghttp://i275.photobucket.com/albums/j...psf34eb544.jpg another houses blocks

Great Job!

I have no idea how is it possible to lift a whole house like this
Do you think those blocks are strong enough in LONG term?

Sorry for those who had to come through all of this and suffer because of Sandy...

almazon -

Raising and moving structures are done daily with few problems as long as the power lines are raised. An old small brick church/school was moved 35 miles around here. Having most utilities underground makes everything easier.

The block are actually much stronger than wood frame structure by a wide margin.

There currently doing this on this old house. One women had her house done in 2 months. She also has the high foundation. She went with prefab in factory. On another they lifted the house.

Lots of places getting raised here (Point Pleasant Beach, Nj) . Sandy did a job and a half. Real interesting watching them raise, do there lower work and set the place back. They turn out pretty nice looking when done.
I live right on the beach and did ok. My place is 80yrs old but was built 10 foot up on blocks. Just lost furnace and some water damage in down stairs garages.
