Roofing/HVAC supply house/store, how to find?

I recall mentions about getting items from a roofing/HVAC supply house (warehouse?) or store, when one can find those kinds of items at a local hardware store.

My question then, is how do you lookup a local roofing/HVAC supply house/store? And are they open to the general public? Or you have to be a contractor in the business to access them?

Old fashioned yellow page book is best for those----
The roofing supply will deal with home owners---

Most HVAC suppliers will only deal with the trades---

Sometimes the national chains will have a search function by state zip.

For example...

For HVAC try Baker Distributing and Johnstone Supply.

Like oh'mike mentioned 'tho, some of the hvac supply houses don't want to sell to home owners.

Another option for HVAC is Grainger.

For roofing you might want to try ABC Supply.

If you Google just about any major brand of roofing there's going to be a "where to buy" area on there web site.

ditto on johnstone and grainger for HVAC. HVAC supply depends on where you live, specific supply house, etc. around here johnstone's will sell to individuals.
