Reupholstering Dining Room Chairs

Hi,

I have a bit of a dilemma. I'm reupholstering my dining room chairs. The chair seats are tapered (wider in front, narrower in back) with relatively rounded corners. The trouble comes when I try to stretch the fabric over the corners. I can't seem to be able to do it without getting creases in the fabric that don't look so great. Any tricks of the trade I might apply?

Thanks in advance,
Joe

I might be able to help if you have pictures.

Is this a drop-in upholstered seat frame? Or an over-upholstered seat?

If you try turning the material on an angle, there may be more stretch as it is on a bias and you may not get as many creases.

This may allow to pull it more to avoid the creases.

Hope this helps.
