Replace old door knob

Is it possible to install modern door knob in old door that has the old key hole style knob? Or do I have to replace the whole door?

Replace old door knob

The old keyhole style usually has a squre threaded rod that goes thru & each doorknob screws on
Then secured with a set screw
New sets won't fit this style

I bought old style replacement knob set at HD - glass

Replace old door knob

The old ones are kind of cool in my opinion and look better than new ones. Why not think about restoring it?

Replace old door knob

If the old ones are mortise style (have been pocketed into the edge of the door), you can cut some blocking to fill in the mortise and redrill the door. You would then need to fill any screw holes, sand and repaint. Or, you can get a modernization kit that includes plates to cover all of the previous holes. Look for a Kwikset KW-214 or KW-215 mod kit. There are two sizes. You would drill the door to accomodate the new lock and mount everything using the mod kit.
