Repairing cracks and painting ext. block walls
I have a block house that was built in 1978. It seems to have a white textured finish on it. On the front of the house, you can hardly see the block grout lines.
I need to paint the house. A few questions:
1. Best method to repair cracks in grout lines. Approx. 1/16-1/8 wide. I've heard to use a caulk, but have also heard to use morter.
2. What method can be used to re texture an area that has been repaired?
The surface texture, almost looks like a light "interior popcorn" finish.
3. What type paint is recommended? Oil, latex, acrylic? etc???
4. I will pressure wash, before painting, but need a recommendation for a primer, if needed. I'm not sure if the white coating on the blocks is paint or the white colored coating, that was applied to cover the grout joints.
Any help on this would be appreciated.
