Refinish exterior door

I have a wood and glass exterior facing east with direct exposure to sun and weather. the door is about 5 years old. the finish coming off. What is the best way to remove the remaining finish and then put a new finish on. What is recommended for the new finish?

Refinish exterior door

I Suggest for best result it would be easiest to remove the door so it will be able to be worked on easer. Use a paint stripper and then neutralize following the manufacture directions sand remaining surface smooth. Then repaint. I would say one of the most durable weather resistant paints I have ever used is alkyd enamel. Most major manufactures should have available. Be sure to read clean up instructions so you have the required solvent handy. (it will not clean with water!)
