Railroad rails....to catch trees.

Up stream, and we ARE the State/Feds. The creek is about 20 feet wide at the bottom, but it's been rip rapped up I'd say 25 feet high up both banks about 30 feet out from the creek bed edge. I don't know since we've not had a heavy rain in the past few weeks, but when we get anything I'll be out looking to get an idea.

For design longevity of the dam you should look up 5, 10, 20 and 50 year floods for that area. Then you can let them balance today's cost vs. future risk, if they dare.

A Dilbert cartoon once said that you shouldn't even be in the same room where a decision is made and I don't expect one in this case, either. If you force the issue they will probably suck out the windows in their haste to leave the room.

Decisions and risks are hot potatoes in the world of business.

Yeah I have all the flood & flood plain data already. Except what was a 25 year storm, has become a 5 year. And what was a 5 year happens about once or twice a year.

Well, it can't be global warming causing this statistically significant trend 'cause politicians have already said it isn't global warming.

You a CE or an ME? I'm an EE.
