questions on a rock climbing wall

Hey there everyone! I'm building my 2 sons 13 and 15, a rock climbing wall in our attic. Our attic space is fairly large, with enough room to incorporate a slant wall, with about 60 degrees and a flat wall as well. I'm just wondering if anyone has ever done one before? I was researching some differn't methods and it seemed like the easiest and cheapest way was to just frame it out with 2x4's or 4x4's and ply board to the frame and then attach the climbing holds to the ply board. I got a great deal on a bunch of rock climbing gear and climbing holds so that part of the project wasn't so bad. My major problem is I was trying to find something that I could put on the ply board so when you go to grab the holds its not as rough on your knuckles against the wood. I've seen how some people use almost a visqueen type of material, which seemed like a good idea, but I was just trying to see if others might have a good idea??
