fcm 1200 Newbie   Join Date: Feb 2012 Posts: 1	purge fan, central air My purge fan will not shut off. 7 yr old american standard unit. Suggestions?

The purge fan when working properly is to clear the air in the fire box prior to, during, and after combustion. If it runs all the time just by applying power then you have a problem with the furnace control board.
