Propane grill problem, where to start troubleshooting?

I have a 4 burner propane grill, maybe 2 years old.

When the bottle is about to get empty it's real easy to tell, all the burners go on "super low" and if you want any juice out of them you have to shut 2 off and only run 2 with the last bit of the bottle.

Just ran out the other day, so I went and got the other bottle, obviously full, it weighed 5 times as much.

Hook it up, grill - great!

Fast forward a week to yesterday: Fire up the grill and it's behaving like the bottle is almost empty! Burners won't kick into "high gear" unless I have 2 of them off. I picked up the bottle just to make sure - yep, still heavy.

So ... where to start troubleshooting.... the hose from the bottle? Each burner?

When propane gets cold it won't flow properly. Only other thing would be that your gas line is somehow clogged at some point.

My manual says that spider webs in the burners can clog them up. Valve on the tank feel like it sticks? Only thing left is the hose that delivers the gas and the burner controls. I think burner control problems would be obvious, soooooooooooo..............

Not to be overly simplistic but I wonder if you got bad fuel or it got filled into a tank with condensation built up? Was it your tank or one you got in a switch.

If all the other suggestions don't improve the problem try a different tank?

What is the flame color on the burner you can get working like? I did not mean to downplay some sort of fuel line or burner unit blockage.

Ayuh,.... I'd sooner think ya got a Bad tank, with a Bad valve....

I go through Tons of propane over the course of the blacktoppin' season,...
I have all the 20lb.ers filled at a local place,...

I usually end up havin' to trade off several tanks off, at convenience stores, to get rid of the 1s with Bad valves...

When the valves go Bad, either ya can't get gas out of 'em, or the gas guys can't fill 'em,...
That's when they get Traded....

Maybe you got ahold of 1 of my old tanks...

when the gas seems low try turning it off at the bottle and disconnecting the valve,wait a few seconds and reconnect then try it

ah.. forgot to add,when you disconnect the gas open all the burners with the lid up leave it for awhile then turn off the burners reconnect then light it

Work your way backwards from the burners.

My vote is spider webs somewhere.

Wow, good stuff here.

I'm going to check for spider webs and do a general cleaning.

As far as the bottle - the only thing you can "buy" near me is "Blue Rhino" which I found out is an absolute ripoff so I have my tanks filled at a landscaping place because they give you 20lbs and not 15. The bottle I have on now is one I have filled - I can NOT remember how that bottle acted last year though .........

Will also check the lines.

Well, took the whole top apart and cleaned it (what a mess) including the burners - lots of crud in there.

Also .. disconnected the valve, made sure there was no dirt in there, checked the bottle etc.

That did it - I guess I should have checked in between to find out which thing did the trick but either way ... it works!!
