Propane furnace runs 3 mins. and quits

Have a Carrier gas furnace model 58MXA about 14 years old.
This morning it started. Ran briefly, quit and we smelled something like burning wires. I'm not really a DIY kind of guy but live on an island that is a ferry ride and about an hour to town. Got out the manual and it gave me an error code of 33. The book says that is "Limit Switch Lockout" and the checklist says look for dirty filter (so I cleaned those as instructed) with the same results. Run 3 minutes. Quit. I disconnect and an hour later it will again start and run 3 minutes. Only other item on checklist is check for blocked return air or supply air grill. There is a grill in the house by the furnace that returns air to the furnace. It is free and clear. There iare 2 PVC pipes from furnace up the side of my house. One exhausts air. The other in air intake. They are at least 25 feet from the ground. I'm 78 years old and diabetic. My ladder is a 20 foot extension model but won't get me to the top of the pipes. I'm guessing this is a job I can't tackle but I thought I'd ask as it will cost hundreds of dollars just to get a furnace technician over to look at it. Any ideas that might save me some bucks (already tried more clothes and that helps a bit but I'm shivering still.

some thing is causing the heat exchanger to over heat it could be the exhaust is partially blocked, which it could be cut from inside and checked and cleaned out.or your combustion fan motor in the front is runnig slow and you could smell that motor getting overheated and now runs slow.where do you live.

Hi - Sorry to hear about your troubles. I'm not a service tech but I have run into similar symptoms when the blower fan or belt driving it failed. The furnace comes on but since the fan isn't blowing any air through it, the temperature rises to high within the furnace itself and an overtemperature limit switch shuts the thing down.
My suggestion would be to check, or have checked, that the fan motor is running and actually turning the fan. Sorry I can't be more help, further advice from me may cause some harm.

Do you have cats and/or dogs?

If so, try cleaning the hair from the "A" coil that sits on to of the heat exchanger.
