Having trouble with an Intermatic Timer bought at Rexell that I just installed for a HO. It took the programmed on time but didn't shut off.

Getting into Fort Knox is easier than using I's website, couldn't get a corporate e-mail address off the Web [sometimes they have these in press releases], Rexell had an 800 number for them which turned out to be wrong, but would you believe Grainger actually called these guys on their own dime and stayed on the line while we hashed over troubleshooting strategy?

Thanks, but their server crashed when I used their form, twice, and that hardly ever happens with these company Web forms.

815 is a toll number for me. I'll write a letter on paper to these guys before I listen to Musak while on hold on a toll call.

I reprogrammed the thing using extraordinary care. It should go on any minute now, and tomorrow morning I'll see if it went off. This strange problem could also mean other problems in the HO's wiring, I guess.
I have several days to figure this out before the HOs come back from vacation.

'matic refused to give me an e-mail address inside the company.
They told me their timers are 'sensitive' and that they use a Triac [Wowee!] and that I should check that the load is incand. bulbs tightly screwed in. So I checked them again. 4 ea., 60 W incands. No CFLs.

I have two of the older models in my house and they worked fine when new. It's puzzling.

A Triac! And here I thought they paralleled a bunch of 12AU7s!

The timer worked today so I will attribute this to the earthquake, rather than blaming it not working on operator error.

I hope no callbacks with this job.
