Pocket doors ?

Hi,
I need ideas! I want to replace french doors leading to a sun room with
a pocket door, but do not think I have enough wall space. Also, I think the wall is probably a suppport wall. Does anyone know anything about these doors?

Generally 2x the door size you want to use + a couple of inches. If you want 2- 30 in. doors to come together then you would need 60+60+2+2 in. <P>

Sounds like you'll need a header if your pocket door frame is bigger than your original French door rough opening.HS

On load bearing walls, the supports are usually placed as close as possible to diminish the span.

I would plan on removing a large section of the wall and installing an I-beam to accomplish what you want. The structure will also need to be supported during the renovation. None of this is cheap.
