Phantom rogue FIRE alarm
I have an ADT system that has freak random false fire alarms. Thye don't happen that often (once a month). I have two sensors (upstairs and downstairs). ADT has replaced both units and some wire. I have let the alarm go so that I could check the lights on the units. Neither units light is lit indicating an alarm condition. ADT seems to be clueless. Any ideas or similar situations?
They have mentioned the shower thing. The unit outside the bath is no flashing the light. Besides, we have a bath vent fan.
It hasn't gone off while cooking.
There is no visable smoke or smell.
They do have instructions to call me home and cell before they dispatch the fire dept.
The good thing is that is it has only gone off late at night once (heart attack city! ). Most of the time we have been awake. We also have the voice alarm to distingush between intruder and fire.
The system is part wireless and part wired. Both fire alarms are wired. Any thought of a rogue wireless signal tripping the alarm?
Howdy fellow Airstreamer!
How old is the system? If you open the door on the main box, what is the model #/name?
Sorry for the delay.
It is an ADT Safewatch Pro 3000EN. The system is less than two years old.
We had another false fire alarm today. No showers (steam), no space heaters on, no fireplace, no cooking, no nothing. Should I just request that ADT replace the main panel? That's pretty much the only thing NOT replaced.
I would say replacing the main panel is worth a shot! I know we had an ADT system for our fire alarm system in the hospital where I work and it tended to have problems also. I know one thing is that most techs for ADT aren't the greatest, and I don’t' mean that in a mean way it is they just don't have much experience with the systems. The only other way I can see fixing the problem is having ADT replace the whole system and start from scratch again, which I would thing would be on their dime since they can't figure it out either. Let us know what happens after the replace the main panel.
