Perhaps I should have been a structural engineer?

Where would we be if the pioneers had that mind set? Where is your sprit of adventure?

Wow some of you know as much about Detroit and SE MI as I do about being a structural engineer! Oakland County is one of the wealthiest counties in the country and it is 100% Detroit suburbs. Check out the "billion dollar mile" sometime. Living in Detroit and living around Detroit are two very different things. I live in what would be called "the country" here, about 90 miles NE of the actual city of Detroit.

If I planned to pay a GC to do all this I wouldn't be frequenting a DIY site. Where's the fun in that? This is quite a bit more involved than the load from removing a stud to add a window or door so I obviously want to have the report first. If the report tells me its a project beyond my abilities then we'll see where we go from there.

Sounds like the price is right and we'll get'r'done. Thanks!

Oakland County has a foreclosure problem and the county is not as wealthy as it used to be. Also the county is now experiencing a rise in crime just like every where else. It is no where near as bad as Detroit, for sure. Oh by the way there is a lot of Bridge cards issued to Oakland county residents. Just saying
