Painted popcorn on paneling
Excuse the alliteration but I am baffled about what to do for my den. We bought this house a month ago and it has paneling with popcorn sprayed onto it half way down the walls. The beautiful crown molding and coffered ceiling are making me think twice about tearing it out so I would love to know how to scrape off the wall and either start fresh or use paintable wall paper. It is not coming off with the water/sprayer technique, which makes me think the paint might be oil based. The center panels of the coffered ceiling have a spikey texture as well - any suggestions?:(
Well coming from someone that has to deal with wacked out ideas on home design like this on a daily basis the best and fastest way is to remove all the trim and remove that paneling and start over. Done carfuly most of the time the trim can be saved.
The very idea of painted wall paper makes me want to scream.
There's a few hundred other post that have been on this site and may others asking how to get this stuff off of the walls.
Once done it looks like a mobile home.
