Have to replace wrought iron columns/railings on 1971 porch. Tile is loose/cracking. Is it best to retile then replace columns or secure new columns directly to concrete porch?
Problem is the columns are supporting the corner of the roof over the porch. I would think direct to concrete would be strongest instead of relying on tiling to hold up roof. Could try to mitigate basin effect.
Well...doesn't look like you are building it up here. That would flatten the pitch of the roof and create issues. I guess you are going to have to tile up to it, but be sure to drill for some weep holes and drainage pathways around them.
