You mean a "Chat Room"? I have one installed on ContactorTalk.com and it gets little use. Also, when people chat in a chatroom all the info is lost.

Yes, I guess that's what I mean.

Sometimes, when I know someone is on, I would like to ask them a question right there and then.

Nathan:

In contractor talk, I guess you have to be a contractor to talk?

Yea, it's a Pros only site. It's more about the business of contracting than how to stuff like this site is.

I don't think that's what Yummy means Nathan

There are some forums where members can list their favorite IM service so other members can click on the AOL/Yahoo/other IM icon under their name and IM the member

Some forums you can only list one, some you can only choose from a list, some can list multiple IM accounts

I'll try and find an example

That's been a feature for a long time. See the AOL and MSN icons under my name?

Oh, I thought that was just a crash test dummy running to his/her local clergyman/woman
I'm not sure why it seemed appropriate under your name Nathan, but it obviously didn't bother me

What I mean is, if I wanted to instant message and communicate with someone that is on the forum at that moment, is that possible.

Not using an IM program?
Sure, you can PM them while they are on
It's not like IM really, but it's more like e-mailing someone when they are online, and they reply back right away
