I live in an older home with a very outdated kitchen. The kitchen dates to the mid-1970's (the house is much older) and it's the usual deal; old, dark, but generally well built cabinets.
I would like to install a dishwasher but we noticed all of the ones for sale are 24" wide. All of our cabinets are 30" in width. Do they make 30" wide dishwashers or is there some kind of spacer available to deal with the extra 6"?
We also have an older garbage disposal with no input for a dishwasher discharge hose. Would it be necessary to upgrade our garbage disposal too?
I am not aware of 30" DW, but you could add fillers strips, stained to match, on either side to fill the gap. If you have the space, they make tailpieces with DW necks on them, otherwise it may be time to replace or remove the disposal.
