Depriate,

I go through this alot, It's like pulling teeth to get the prices from the subs (electrical, plumbing, tile, materials, etc...)...

Don't necessarily blame the contractor. I tell people/customers that I need a minimum of 2 weeks to compile my figures. I usually end up making about 6 phone calls to each sub before I get the prices from them (they are busy working and it's hard for them to sit down and do the calculations to come up with a set price).
Sometimes, dependant on the scope of the work, it can take 3 to 4 weeks before all the estimates and material costs come in.

I don't know how long you have been waiting. Getting another contractor is going to just start the whole waiting process all over.

Tip: If you push contractors or sub contractors for prices, and they don't feel that they have worked out all the factors and costs.....they will always give you a high estimate to cover themselves from accidental underpricing (shooting themselves in the foot because they priced it too low).

We apologize for this inconvenience, but something we have to do as a corporation.
If you have any issues or questions on your project, send me a note and I will give you the best advice to help you that myself or my resources can provide.
We have been awarded more jobs in the last week than in the last two quarters of 2006. We only will take on projects that we can give the best quality, stay in budget, and complete on time. I cannot and will not hire a guy off the street to work on any project, If we built for you, this is what we would have to do at this time. I hope you understand.
Thank You.
This is what he said.... he isnt doing the bids. its been a few months..... i don understand.... i need a contractor that will work!
