Anything rotten that can be seen or found will bring the value down.

I am not sure what you are talking about "rotten shield"; but since you just purchased the property, unless you paid cash I would have to assume an appraisal was done. While an appraiser is not an inspector, if it was something out of the ordinary it should be noted and adjusted for in the appraisal report.

Ask to see the appraisal to see if it is included in the report. If so the value of the house already reflects the defect.

I think they may be referring to the alarm company sign?

"jbfan"--When the heck are you guys going to finish all that road construction at I-85 and Bullsborough Ave.? I went through there Thursday. Three years now just to move a road, build a new bridge, re-vamp an older bridge, widen the Interstate approaches, place new signs, and paint stripes on the new road! What the heck is taking you so long? I'll be glad when this is all over. The new concrete road will be very nice. Thanks, David

Isn't the default to be notified when there is a response to a thread you posted in? I know I always get them.

Yeah, but I use an "Internet E-mail" account for a lot of places where I need to enter an E-mail
That way my reg mail does not get any spam
And I very rarely check that account
But I turn notification off

Thurman, I sure hope it is soon.
I try to avoid that area as much as I can.
