Need ideas or remodeling basement
My husband and I are going to use the many ducts, pipes, etc in our basement as part of the atmosphere. We're planning a bar, pool table, entertainment area with a rustic look, kind of like you'd find in an sports bar. I need ideas on what and how to paint the ceiling/ducts/pipes, etc, what to do with my walls (paneling or drywall) and floor. thanks

I would paint the ceiling and ducts, pipes, etc., in an off white, cream colour.
For the walls, I would insulate and drywall. For the floors, if you are looking to give it a rustic feel, I would do terra cotta tiles, ( very durable) or you can do carpeting if your basement is dry. Just my 2 cents..... |

Stained concrete looks cool on the floor, and makes a nice durable surface. It is a DIY process if you want. It involves cleaning and etching the existing floor and application of stain/sealer.
Use a rented sprayer to paint the underside of the floor, the joists, and the ductwork. Clean all the metal surfaces thoroughly and prime them before painting. I think dark green looks pretty cool, as does black. I've seen track lighting installed on this type of job, and it looks great. I'd go with studs and drywall for the walls. |
