Need Help - NEIGHBOURS!!!!!!!
Hey Guys,
I Currently removed the wooden fence on the right hand side of my home and the wooden fence behind my home. I changed them both to 1.5 meter color-bond fences and for both of them i payed $700 and my neighbour payed $700. However the neighbour on my left hand side doesn't own his property and when i approached him about getting the wooden fence Changed (it is almost falling over.. looks horrible as well) he said that i should talk to the owner of the house. I have made numerous efforts as well as consumed a lot of time talking to the Home Agency about getting this problem resolved but everytime i go there they just say 'Ok the owner hasn't replied yet, but im sure he will soon' they told me to come back in a month, and i went today, and guess what?? STILL THE SAME BLOODY ANSWER!! ![]() This is really frustrating as they have made no effort to help me resolve this problem.. I asked for the owners phone number, so i could talk to him concerning the fence directly but they said 'Sorry Sir We Cannot Thats a Breach Of Privacy' Like what can i do? Is there anything i can do? speak to the council, or is there some organization that deals with this kind of thing.. OR AM I DOOMED TO OWNING A UGLY, HALF-BROKEN WOODEN FENCE FOR EVER!! PLEASE HELP ME

Find out who owns the fence first. If it is your neighbors, build up to it, using the appropriate set backs. If it is your fence replace it. Do you want the adjacent property owner, who rents out this property to split the cost of replacing your fence?

Oh so you want it on the line so he will share the cost with you. What if he says no?

If two neighbors are buying a fence, who gets the nice side facing their house?

If you want a new fance put it up. If you can get the neighbour to pay for half all the better, but he doesn't have do anything if he doesn't want to. Unless you ahve some city code requiring fences he could just rip it down and let's have no fence.

To me this sounds like a bad idea, even if he DOES want a fence. Why would you want to co-own anything with your neighbor. What happens in the future when someone wants to lower/raise/paint/remove the fence? This is especially asking for trouble if one of your neighboring properties is sold.
If YOU want a fence, buy a fence. Then it's yours. You won't have headaches in the future. by the way, nice username
