Hi, can anyone help me? I've got a marble coffee-table top (approx 52" L x 35" W x 3/4" D) that has had three of the four corners knocked off and unfortunately are no longer to be found. It has sat in my garage for the last 8 years waiting for me to take it to be cut by a professional. It doesn't look like I'm going to get around to doing that so can anyone tell me how to cut it, and what with? (Also if it would be a really bad idea to even try?).
For a finished product, you need to have to professionally cut. You could cut it yourself with a diamond blade in a circular saw and a straight edge, but depending on the variety of the stone, the edges may chip a lot. Even if they don't, the cut edges will have saw marks in them which need to be polished out. This is done with a set of progressively finer grits of diamond polishing discs, and are too expensive to justify for a one time DIY project.
