Need a good computer program for making home plans

I am looking for a good computer program, to make some home plans for our future home? Just something to help us design a home. We want to build a barn home and even if the design is just enough to send to a barn home company to duplicate with professional plans for the county, it will help.

Just dont want some mega complicated program I have to spend months learning. any ideas?

Google Sketchup is free, though there is a learning curve. However, they have excellent tutorials too.
WillieT, a member here, is fantastic with it. Personally, I have Punch!Pro, which is very good, but costs $$$.
There are many others, but most are not free like sketchup is.

My wife designed our log home using a program called 3D Home Architect. It was pretty easy to use, and cost only around $40. But that was 3 or 4 years ago and I think it's called something different now.

I have an older version of 3D Home Architect/ 6 (Broderbund® 3D Home Architect® Version 6.0 ReadMe Windows® Release March, 2004)

. Its several years old and I never learned how to use it. I was thinking that since it was several years old that it may be way behind but I guess I will give it a shot and see what I can learn.

I will also see what else is out there in those free ones.

Try one from this company, Chief Architect.

Andy.
